Frequently Asked QuestionsBest Morehead City Fishing Charter

» Do I need to bring any fishing tackle or bait?

No, we provide all the fishing tackle and bait necessary.  However, if you want to bring your own tackle please discuss it first with the captain so that we can make accommodations for it. Please remember that we cannot be responsible for lost or broken fishing tackle.

» Will I need a North Carolina fishing license?
Our boat is licensed by the state of North Carolina and you will not need an individual fishing license.

» Should I bring a cooler on the boat?

You may want to bring a small cooler for your food and drinks but a large cooler is not necessary. However, if you plan on taking fish home, we do recommend that you bring a large cooler and leave it in your vehicle.

  »

Can I take home my catch?

Definitely. We can also recommend several local fish cleaning stations available that are available back at the docks. We will even provide you with ice for your trip home.

» What happens if the weather is too bad to fish?

Our entire policy about reservations and cancellations is spelled out [HERE]. Unless you hear differently from the captain, it is best to plan to be at the dock at the pre-arranged departure time. If the captain determines that a trip would be unsafe, he will give you your option of rescheduling another day or a full refund.

» Do we tip the captain or mate?

The mate works hard to ensure that you have a safe and successful trip. He is paid only by your tips so it is customary to tip him between 15% and 20% of the charter fee. The captain would be flattered by a tip but certainly does not expect one.

» What should I bring along on my charter trip?

Enough food and drink for the day
  Layered clothing
  Sunglasses (preferably polarized)
  Sunscreen
Rubber soled shoes (preferably deck shoes)
Motion sickness medicine (if you are not sure about seasickness)
Cooler to take your catch home
